If you work at Apple and encounter Steve Jobs in the elevator, you had better have a good elevator speech ready to go. I'd like to hear his elevator speech to the public - during the Super Bowl.

I've been wondering about this for years! The RDF is talked about so much and Apple only seems to use it when there's an event. I get that Apple has been trying to take emphasis away from Steve but this would have been a cool thing to try a few years ago. I think it would have worked.

This is a horrible idea. Apple has been trying to distance itself from the Apple == Steve issue for years. To have Jobs begin doing commercials would only reinforce the point.

Bad idea. If anything they need to distance Steve Jobs from the public's perception that he is the only genius at Apple. Look what a furor occurred over his health. Leave the man alone to run the company and select a successor. Better they should make fun of the current crop of Microsloth ad's. "Macs are about style, more than substance..." quoting one of the ads. You get what you pay for and if you want to pay $799 for a 17" piece of crap from Hewlett Packard, go right ahead. Discerning buyers still buy Mercedes, BMW's, Rolls Royce's, and yes Macs, because they are made better, perform better and hold their value longer.

And lets not forget the former CEO of Microsoft and his flop Seinfeld commercials. It surely gave MS an image of incompetence (which they are). So, it can work both ways.

Commercials are made to sell product, not make fanboys feel good about what they own and who they buy product from.

As a life long Apple Computer user, using Bill Gates or Michael Dell in Microsoft/PC ads would never make me want to use Windows or buy a PC.

Steve Jobs makes us feel good about our Apple products when he speaks at conventions. I doubt he's ever personally been responsible for persuading sales to users of dark side product.
